Pony Power at EQUITANA Open Air in Neuss
EQUITANA Open Air Ponypower
Welsh IG describe their small strong horses from the British Isles as the Rolls Royce among the sturdy breeds. Breeder Claudia Gresshöner particularly values their versatility and friendly nature. As a member of the organising team, Claudia puts together the association’s programme for EQUITANA Open Air in Neuss. “We’ve already been a partner for 20 years and the event provides us with the perfect platform to present the breed to a wide audience. Many of our 1500 members also come to the racecourse park simply to be part of the community”. The Welsh IG programme also includes a whole range of colourful performances from what to do with your pony in your leisure time right through to haute école as well as competitions for all age groups. The driving tests certainly make up a large part of the programme. Nevertheless, alongside dressage and jumping, we also offer working equitation and a competition for circus lessons. “We like to cover a large range of activities”, Claudia Gresshöner stresses. A lead-rein trail has been planned for the youngest riders. Here, participants have to clamber through a tyre and then remount their horses, ride through a pole maze and past an open umbrella. The fancy-dress category demonstrates the Welsh pony’s attractiveness to the public particularly well. “Our application form will be ready by the end of the year and is aimed at all British pony breeds”, promises Claudia Gresshöner, hoping to win as many participants as possible.
